Until now, Airlines have only two options:
Option 1:
Internet booking engine for airlines that are hosted in a GDS, for instance www.avianca.co.uk. As a GDS hosted carrier, Avianca´s inventory is also adminsitrated in the GDS.
Ypsilon can provide a booking engine for the airline that connects with the GDS directly.
Rule engine and front end is provided by Ypsilon but the availability and fare display is hosted in the GDS.
Avianca

Vietnam Airlines

Option 2:
IT providers provide booking engines that bypass the GDS and connect directly to an airline host such as Corda, Gabriel or Pars or XML API.
Fares and rules are loaded in the Airline legacy system, validated through a third party rule engine and space is booked in the airline system.
PNR is created and hosted in the airline System.
Transavia
Now there is a third option offered by Ypsilon:
This is what we call the "hybrid" engine.
Some Airlines need a booking engine where they can sell allocation from a GDS side by side with allocation maintained outside of a GDS.
Ypsilon provides the best of both worlds.
The Hybrid engine is designed to offer the following:
ATPCO similar Fare data can be entered into the Ypsilon Fareport Fare data engine.
A STADAF import is also available within the Fareport Engine to facilitate Data transfer.
Inventory is defined and managed in the Ypsilon allottment platform.
Rules are validated within the Ypsilon Rule engine.
Every fare loaded in Fareport is identified with a code that indicates to the Ypsilon booking engine if the availability should be perused in a GDS or in the Ypsilon allotment.
Both options are possible.
Regular published fares loaded in a GDS are queried and displayed side by side in a single array within the Ypsilon B2C or B2B booking engine.
Accordingly, PNRs are either held in a GDS environment or in the Ypsilon allottment platform.
If needed, bookings done on the Ypsilon allotment platform can be send back to any airline proprietary system via Airimp of Type B edifact.
Ypsilon also offer a mid/backoffice and accounting solution where all booking types are directly imported.(Etacs /Aurora)
Fare Data entry system: Ypsilon Fareport
Fare data entry module /Web fares / Private fares/net fares
Ypsilon Fareport is a client based and web based program that enables direct loading of fare data into the Ypsilon Database.
It enables airlines to load and control special fares with great flexibility and immediate “time to market”.
Fareport allows airlines not only to exploit ATPCO feeds but to add and amend fares for their internet booking engine within minutes.
Fareport will enable Airlines to input special Internet fares or net fares into a structured format and immediately release them in the booking engine with a zero time to market.
It reduces dependency on the ATPCO feed for immediate activation of fares and decreases fare loading costs.
Ypsilon Fareport loads and converts fares with all applicable rules and restrictions such as feeder airline and class of service, interline connection, min/max stay, validity dates, blackout dates, weekend surcharges, Sunday rule, companion fares, routing restrictions, flight number restrictions, time or reason restrictions and many more into a structured and comprehensive SQL database for immediate redistribution via internet or closed agent intranet.
Contractual net fares can be imported from several different formats such as STADAF.
If required, a full import of Airlines fares can be done, Airlines could provide Ypsilon with a STADAF file containing all Airlines published fares in order to reduce distribution costs.
The file can be directly imported into Fareport and accordingly into the booking engine.
A flag is setup within Fareport to define if the availability is to be perused in a GDS or from the allottment platform. Accordingly the PNR is either held in a GDS or in the allotment platform.
Main features:
- Password protected access
- 2 separate user group: Administrator / Data Entry User (future release)
- Fare data aggregation /amendment / deletion
- Logical validation of entered data
- Time controlled rule update function through Queuing system.
- Correction capability before final release of data
- Access on detailed protocols (Queue Log)
- Customer based configuration menu
- User friendly graphical interface
- Automatic update of new version
- Full control on all fare data
- Flexible utilisation
- Language Version: English
- Direct import of fares in STADAF format
Markup management: Ypsilon Airline Power Pricer
This tool enables Airlines to mark up or down all fares loaded in the booking engine, regardless of whether these fares are queried over the GDS system or entered as net in Ypsilon Fareport and booked in the Ypsilon allotment platform.
Fares can be manipulated depending on several criteria such as farebasis, flight number, route, dates, class etc.
It would give Airlines an additional and extremely effective way to control and manage prices displayed in the booking engine.
Any changes made in the power pricer are reflected immediately into the booking engine, hence giving Airlines an extremely short time to market of prices and the ability to react very fast to market fluctuation.
